Terms of Use

Effective date: 9 October 2026 · Last updated: 9 October 2026

These Terms are a legal agreement between you and Naija Chase. By creating an account or using the Game, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. About these Terms

Naija Chase (“we”, “us”) provides a free browser-based detective game at naijachase.app (the “Game”) and an information website at naijachase.com (the “Website”), together the “Service”. These Terms, our Privacy Policy and our Disclaimer form the whole agreement between us about the Service.

2. Who may use the Service

3. Your account

4. Our licence to you

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and play the Game through a web browser for your own non-commercial entertainment, subject to these Terms. You get no ownership of the Service or its content.

5. Fair play and acceptable use

Naija Chase is a competitive and cooperative game, so it needs honest players. You agree not to:

6. Private groups and weekly challenges

Groups are private and invitation-only. Group owners and admins may manage their own groups but cannot change case outcomes. Challenge results are determined by the server, and the server’s record is final. We may correct, reverse or void results that arise from a bug, error, cheating or technical fault.

7. Progress, ranks and in-game items

Career points, ranks, tokens, achievements and cosmetic items exist only inside the Game. They have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, and are not your property. We may rebalance, reset or adjust them where needed to keep the Game fair or to fix errors. Ranks such as “Inspector” are game titles only and do not give any real police or official status.

8. Paid features

The Game is free. Checkout and advertising are currently switched off. If we later offer paid items, they will be cosmetic or optional extra content only. They will never change clues, routes, deadlines, scores, ranks or challenge outcomes. Prices, taxes, refunds and any further terms will be shown clearly before you pay, and will apply in addition to these Terms.

9. Intellectual property

The Game and Website, including software, artwork, animations, music, text, clues, dialogue, cases, characters, data selection and arrangement, and the Naija Chase name and logo, belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. Facts about Nigeria are not owned by us, but our wording and compilation of them are.

You keep ownership of any content you submit, such as a username or group name. You give us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use, display and store it as needed to run the Service. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without obligation or payment to you.

10. Fictional content

All characters, crimes, businesses, operators and events in the Game are fictional. Please read our Disclaimer, which forms part of these Terms.

11. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available but do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or always available. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it, for example for maintenance, security or improvement. We may update content, cases and balance at any time. If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will give reasonable notice where we can.

12. Suspension and termination

We may warn you, restrict features, remove content, reset results, or suspend or permanently close your account, with or without notice, if you break these Terms, put the Service or other players at risk, or if the law requires. If we close your account without cause, we will tell you why where we reasonably can. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, such as sections 9, 14, 15, 16 and 17, will continue.

13. No warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. Educational and cultural content in the Game is provided for entertainment and general interest and may be incomplete or out of date. See the Disclaimer.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Because the Service is free, our total liability to you for all claims relating to it will not exceed ₦10,000 (ten thousand naira).

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any rights you have as a consumer under Nigerian law that cannot be waived.

15. Your responsibility

You agree to compensate us for losses, damages and reasonable costs arising from claims by third parties caused by your breach of these Terms, your unlawful use of the Service, or your infringement of another person’s rights, to the extent the law allows.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms and any dispute arising from them or from the Service are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us at [email protected] so we can try to resolve the matter in good faith. If we cannot, the courts of Nigeria have jurisdiction, except where mandatory law gives you the right to bring a claim in your home country.
